Seaworld, Nautilus Theater, "Oddysea" and this is
Svetlana, "PearlGirl" to us. She's pure poetry in
motion....Combining grace, beauty and seemingly
effortless athletic skill.
IF/WHEN you should ever get to SeaWorld do NOT miss this
marvelous show!
NO flash photography is permitted and the lighting is
very subdued to heighten the "Under
Water" effect which makes photography (we were told)
"impossible". This just goes to show
it CAN be done though it does take some very special
equipment.
We were so impressed with this show that we bought the
equipment to get the shots. The Camera: Nikon D-100
Digital set for ISO 3200 (H-2) equipped with an F2.8,
105-300
Zoom lens (35mm equivalent) and shutter speeds in the
range of 1/20 Sec. (varied as the
lighting changed)

"available light" work, but, I think
you'll agree that the results justified the trouble and
expense. Svetlana and the Show
Manager certainly did! They told us these were the first
live action shots they've ever
seen taken of their show!
The biggest "reward" was when they gave us free access
to the set AND the theater so
we could obtain even BETTER shots of the many others in
the show. (The "Penguins"
turned out to be the toughest challenge because of the
super fast action, (Their routine
employs a clever arrangement of trampolines) ..... which
makes photographing them "Difficult",
to say the least! Here's ONE example:~
