Should you ever
get down Logan way, you'll find "The Piano Works" right on Main Street
. . . just
about in the middle of town. Go in and ask Carol to show you the BIG picture I
made for her of her very "arty" antique! (A much smaller version is in the
collection, herewith.) And, while yer lookin', don't miss the old Piano that was (maybe still is?)
sitting out in front of "The Piano Works". Truly a work of ART! You might want to look for a picture or two of a really neat
“Cigar Box” Guitar.

Know what a Dulcimer is?? This year we were entertained at the Bowen House by
Kendra Ward (Dulcimer) and Bob Bence (guitar) as they, with their talented
"adopted" daughter introduced us to their beautiful HAND-MADE "Hammered"
Dulcimers. Yes! They built them, themselves!
Each year, Logan's "main drag" is picturesquely "decorated" with Washboards,
banners fluttering from the quaint old lamp posts and laundry hanging out in
front of the Court House at the intersection of Main and Market Streets. Vendors
of all kinds line either side of the street, adding to the festive appearance.
Even the parking meter posts, this year, were cleverly "hidden" by some unique
artwork . . . Beautiful, humorous, sometimes whimsical "artwork", each
individually crafted by local artists (using clay tile tubes from Logan Clay
Products ) which covered the otherwise, UGLY, unused, parking meter posts. |

about every taste!

From the Juggernauts and the Buffalo Ridge Band, to the Boondockers, Big Momma
Sue, Michael, Rebecca and "Cosmo", Nager and Ellis, there was music everywhere!
Jazz Bands, roving “street minstrels", and a variety of impromptu “Jam Sessions"
going on everywhere, from right after morning coffee and lasting thru the day
until 11 pm; — There was something "going on" everywhere one turned! And one
doesn’t have to look very hard to find delightful eats! There’s just about
anything you might desire; Fresh made Kettle Corn, Buffalo-burgers, Strawberry
Shortcake, Funnel Cakes, "Cracklings" and Foot-long Hot Dogs — 'most every
goodie imaginable - just NAME it! Of course, if “fun foods” are not your “dish”,
there are nice “sit-down” restaurants where folks will be more than pleased
to
serve you in leisure and quiet! ("Mr. Mac's" has been our regular "hang-out
. . .
GREAT sandwiches, pies and COFFEE! (Slurp!!) And, IF yer a "Pizza Lover" there
are (at least) two good* Pizza "joints", (if I might use the vernacular)
. . .
each just off Main Street, at either "end" of the Festival, so you never have
far to go . . . to get what'cha WANT . . . no matter what your taste might be!
This was our third year at the Washboard Festival, and, (we can say from
experience) with each passing year, the Festival has grown and become even more
fun than the year before!
We've included a few pictures which might help convey a bit of the "Festival
atmosphere” and a bit of the “tenor” of a fun-filled “old-timey” Festival. IF
it'll help you figure out just how much FUN..... reflect upon the fact that we
live barely 40 miles from Logan, but, not wanting to miss a minute of the
Festival, we've booked a room at the 'InnTowner' . . . (well in advance) every year
since our FIRST year; back when we didn't know how much FUN it was! Just
think . . . No parking fees . . . No Admission charges . . . Wheeee!
* We KNOW! We've tested them ~ personally! |
