Centerburg Farm Festival

It's easy enough to find! - located smack-dab in the geographic "center" of our fair State, and, one FINE community it is! Truly an "Oldtime Farming Community." Centerburg celebrates its farming history as no other! Every September...on the THIRD weekend to be precise, they put on a Show that is a delight to attend.

From the Opening Day Parade (Saturday morning), through Sunday's Awards presentations, little Centerburg is bustling with every manner of activity one might imagine (and a few you'd never even have guessed); from a Tootsie Roll Hunt in the Hay, Doctor Eldoonie's Magic show, a "Pedal Tractor" Pull and a Bubble Gum Bubble Blowout for the kiddies, to Square-dancing Tractors, Husband Calling Contest, demonstrations of antique engines and Farming Machinery (fascinating and hard for an ol' farm boy like ME to imagine how far the science of farming has come over the years.

All thru the both days, you will hear some MARVELOUS Musical Entertainment at the various stages throughout the Festival grounds, like Appalachian Heritage, the Mathias Brothers and Dad, Country Classics Band, Michael, Rebecca and Cosmo, the "Hi-tech" Washboard..... Nobody attending will feel "left out". Something to please everyone and, THAT's fer sure!

And then, there's the Grub! Ummmmmm! BBQ'd Chicken, 2 inch thick Pork Chops, done to a "T", Rib-eye Steak Sandwiches... Oh, yes! I mustn't leave out the GREAT Coffee at the BSA Troop 382 Tent!....That was my "Oasis" for both days. (I don't function very well if there's too much blood in my "caffeine system!" :o) You can believe me, those Scouts make the BEST Coffee in Centerburg! (They serve up some deee-licious Hot-dogs, too!) Their tent, prominently marked, is right up by the main stage which is where many of the musicians and vocal groups perform.... My bride, Helen, and I made it a point to take in every performance we could.... including Karen Piper, The Adkins Brothers Quartet, Appalachian Heritage, The Gleaners Country Band, Michael and Rebecca with Cosmo, the Hi-tech Washboard, etc. The Centerburg Oldtime Farm Festival is TWO full days of FREE, FIRST CLASS fun and entertainment! Now, how can ya beat THAT!?
